Mommy-Brain Mixer: Can They Be Little Forever?

Photobucket

I'm linking up with the lovely Cassie from Two In Diapers for her weekly Mommy-Brain Mixer and
I thought I’d post a little update on my sweet little boys since it’s been awhile…

Oliver at 2 ½ years old…
He’s 38 inches tall and weighs in at 31 pounds. He’s 50th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight. He’s completely potty trained now and doesn’t have much trouble anymore. The only time he really has an accident is at night if he’s had too much to drink before bed, other than that he’s really good about getting to the potty on time! He is obsessed with watching all sorts of videos on youtube and most of the time I have no idea how he finds certain videos that he loves. He’s a smarty-pants. One of his favorite things to do right now is to have a sleep over with Mama and Dada. He’ll ask “Can we have a sleepover in Mama’s room? Daddy, we can take our shirts off!.” For some reason he’s made it a rule that if we ever have a sleepover all of the boys in the room have to take their shirts off, he even makes my brother go shirtless when he spends the night.  He’s been a bit of a bully lately when it comes to little brother, most of the time he’s trying to wrestle just for fun but that just means Carter ends up getting hurt quite a bit. For example: today Oliver was chasing Carter down the hall, accidentally bumped him, and Carter flew head first into the doorframe. He’s got a pretty good bruise across half of his face now…I am honestly so surprised that neither of them has been to the ER for stitches yet. **KNOCK ON WOOD**

Carter at 1 ½ years old…
He’s 28 inches tall (I think??) and weighs in at 22 pounds. He’s 50th percentile for height but only 10th percentile for weight. I honestly don’t understand how he’s so low in weight; the kid eats more than his chubby older brother! The doctor’s not concerned because that really is just the way he’s built, lean. I remember my mother in law being very impressed with how muscular Carter was at just two weeks old and he’s been that way ever since. We always say he has baby muscles. He’s talking a lot more these days and putting words together to say phrases. Yesterday we were walking through TJ Maxx and he points to a pair of jeans and says “Oh cute!” he has great taste in fashion apparently. He can say “I want more” “bye bye Mama” “Cracker please” “Where’d he go?” and a bunch of other phrases that have us communicating pretty well throughout the day. His favorite word right now is “No” but he uses it at the funniest times. I always tell Kaleb that “No” is my favorite naughty word that Carter says because of the tone of voice that he says it in. It cracks me up!
When he really wants something he runs up to us, grabs our pointer finger, and takes off running to show us exactly what he’s wanting help getting. It’s one of the cutest things he does and we end up laughing and kissing his little cheeks every time he does it. Speaking of kisses, he is probably the most kissable baby ever! There’s just something about him that completely melts us and we can’t help but hug, squeeze, and kiss him.
This kid is so silly and absolutely loves going to bed at night in his crib! When he gets tired he’ll ask us to lay him down…not a bad problem to have I guess! Oliver used to be the same way but kind of grew out of it when he hit a year and a half.

I could go on and on but I’ll stop there. I love watching these boys grow and learn new things but at the same time I just want to keep them little forever. I just love them to pieces.

  2. Oh your boys are adorable! My little boy is doing the same thing... grabs our finger and pulls us to whatever he is wanting. I love it!! I'm a little worried about my older one bullying my new little girl too... it should be fun!! and that sleepover thing made me laugh, how super cute!

    1. There was one time where carter, the little one, completely tackled Oliver to the ground! Completely blindsided him and we could not stop laughing! Your sweet little girl may hold her own pretty well too, once she's older of course! She's so incredibly precious! Those pictures you just posted make me so excited to have another newborn in the house!
