What's Cookin?

In this post I will share some of the recipes that we have tried in our house lately that are all budget and family friendly! So far I haven't made one so far that we haven't liked so if any of you try them as well I hope you feel the same! Here it goes...

Crockpot Hawaiian Chicken

I got this recipe off of pinterest but the link to the website didn't work so I have no one to give credit to! It's a really easy and simple recipe, few ingredients and very few steps to a complete dinner!

4-6 chicken breasts
1 (8ounce) can of crushed pineapple
1 bottle of hawaiian style bbq sauce (the only place I could find this flavor was the Archer Farms brand at Target)

You throw all of the ingredients into the crockpot and cook on low for 6 hours...serve over white rice! The chicken was a little dry once we cut into it so I would suggest shredding it up either in the crockpot before serving so that it can soak in the sauce a bit or once it's cut up and served over the rice, drench it in the extra sauce. The flavoring was a tad spicy which I wasn't expecting so if you have kids that are sensitive to that, they may not like it as much.

Chicken Florentine Bowtie Pasta

We really enjoyed this dish! Carter, my one year old, ate it right up! We had plenty of leftovers to last us a couple more meals...perfect for lunch the next day. I also served it with....

Copycat Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits

Super yummy...super easy...super cheap. I will be making these again!

Jaci's Caribbean Chicken Tacos

This turned out really good! Again, this one was a little spicy but not too bad. We had plenty of leftovers to last us a couple more meals! I served the chicken mix on flour tortillas smeared with sour cream and mild salsa.

Lemon Garlic Spaghetti

This was one of the easiest dishes to make and it was really yummy! Definitely something you want to eat fresh though, the leftovers were a little funky, and they definitely tasted a day old. The simplicity of this recipe made up for it and it would be really good served with steamed broccoli.

I would love to hear from you if you try any of the recipes and would love to know if you do anything different :) It's always fun to switch things up a bit!

  1. I am totally trying that spaghetti tonight! I'll probably add chicken on the side but that looks delish!
